API AUDIO TRNZFR Overview

Stuffing a 525 feedback-style compressor and a 553-inspired inductor EQ into a compact pedal, the API Audio TranZformer LLX is an FX pedal for bass guitars that can replace your bass amp head. Sporting 3-band EQ control, six levels of compression intensity, and the ability to switch from an up to 40 dB clean boost to full overdrive mode, this pedal offers killer bass tone.

The pedal allows you to flip the high band (2.5 kHz) to either peak or shelf mode. The output level control is continuously variable. Three dedicated footswitches are on hand (Tone, Bypass, and Comp) for switching on or off each section of the pedal. The front panel features a switch for engaging a -20 dB pad on the output. Outputs include an unbalanced 1/4" Hi-Z and balanced XLR output (the XLR output cannot be bypassed). Each output sports a selectable phase inversion function and the XLR output includes selectable ground lift for eliminating ground issues that can induce hum and noise. The pedal accepts 9 to 18 VDC power input from standard power supplies, with 18 VDC offering increased headroom.
